Profile
Summary
Veterinary Innovations is a vet consulting firm. At first they just needed a place to give information about their business and they had a simple site built for that purpose. As soon as it came time to give it some real functionality they gave me a call. The site has a robust backend that takes daily numbers from clinics and processes it with formulas developed by the firm. That data is then displayed in graphs and charts, helping consultants and clinics achieve their goals.
I also cleaned up the design a bit and we're looking at a redesign in the future.
Technical
This site is built out on a backbone of custom PHP and MySQL so it can do exactly what the client needs it to. It's also got a developing content management system (CMS) that is currently being fleshed out.
The nature of this site, being consultant software, required all of the data to be displayed visually. That called for some intense AJAX to get the database of numbers to contribute to the graphs and charts, but the end result was beautiful.
Everything is up to W3C standards, and the PHP is Object Oriented to maximize its efficiency.
Breakdown
Phase 1
This first shot is of the original site. At this point there were no hover-overs for the menu, it was slightly pushed to the right, the header was bigger than it should have been, the taglines (top right next to the logo) didn't cycle, etc etc. But it was clean and a great start.
So I took that, cleaned it up a bit and we had our starting point.
Phase 2
This was the revamped version. Very similar to the original, but wait... we started to get the exciting part, the backend.
Now users could sign up and get access to the consulting software! Seamlessly integrated it allows each clinic to track their progress visually.
Phase 3
The consultants could now view all their clinics and get a quick overview of how they were doing. From that page they could add new users and clinics as well as email the clinics already associated with them.
Phase 4
Both clinics and consultants had access to the clinic's main page. Here they could see visually how they were doing, allowing owners to track progress and success.
